Manual Brewing Methods Workshop

About this event

Slow down. Measure. Pour. Taste the difference.

A workshop for people who love coffee but feel like manual brewing is a little too much. Too many rules. Too much gear. Too many opinions.

Here’s the thing. Good coffee isn’t a secret. It’s a skill. And skills can be learned.
At okiru, we strip manual brewing back to what actually matters. Water, coffee, time, attention. No elitism. No jargon. Just hands-on brewing and tasting, guided step by step.
You don’t need to bring anything. All equipment, coffee, and materials are provided.
You’ll work with freshly roasted coffee and brew it multiple ways, learning how the brewing method alone changes flavour, texture, and aroma. The goal isn’t perfection. It’s understanding. Once you feel it, everything clicks.

This isn’t a lecture or a demo you watch from a distance. You’ll brew, taste, adjust, and brew again. Slow coffee, done right.

Manual Methods Covered:

  • Pour Over (V60)

  • French Press

  • AeroPress

  • Moka Pot

FAQs

Do I need prior coffee knowledge to attend?
No. This workshop is designed for beginners and curious home brewers. If you drink coffee and want it to taste better, you’re in the right place.

Is this a technical or theory-heavy class?
Not at all. We focus on doing, tasting, and understanding through experience. You’ll learn the fundamentals without getting buried in numbers or jargon.

Will I get to brew coffee myself?
Yes. This is a hands-on workshop. You’ll brew using different manual methods, make adjustments, and taste the results as you go.

What kind of coffee will we use?
We’ll use one carefully chosen coffee bean throughout the session. Brewing it in different ways helps you clearly taste how method alone changes flavour.

Do I need to bring any equipment?
No equipment needed. Everything required for the session will be provided.

Which brewing methods will be covered?
Pour Over V60, French Press, AeroPress, and Moka Pot.

Is this workshop suitable if I already brew at home?
Yes. If you brew at home but feel inconsistent or unsure why your coffee tastes different day to day, this workshop will help things click.

How long is the workshop?
The session starts at 3.30 pm and unfolds at an unhurried pace. We move slowly, intentionally, and with enough time to brew and taste properly.

Will I be able to apply this at home?
Absolutely. Everything taught is practical and repeatable with everyday home setups.

Is this more about speed or mindfulness?
Mindfulness. Manual brewing here is treated as a ritual, not a race.
